Macedon Ranges Health generalist counsellors use a range of counselling therapies that are tailored to suit you. Our counselling service accepts referrals for clients within the Macedon Ranges Shire and is FREE.

This type of general counselling is for adults and can help with issues including
- Anxiety, depression, stress
- Trauma
- Relationship problems and family difficulties
- Grief and loss (bereavement)
- Pain or physical illness causing emotional distress
- Coping with ageing and changes in life
- Self-worth
- Work related stress
- Feeling stuck or worried about the future
Counsellors work together with you to:
- understand what’s important to you
- get to the root of the issue
- be guided by your own expertise in your life
- provide strategies for moving on if you need it
- support your understanding, awareness and knowledge about your issue
- support your health goal in collaboration with your allied health professionals
Counselling at Macedon Ranges Health is a free service to eligible clients funded by DFFH Community Health Unit and Care in Mind through the North Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN).
Referring Health Professionals can refer using the Care in Mind referral form or call 9088 4277 to speak with the Care in Mind Referral and Access Team at NWMPHN.
Self-referring clients can call 1800 595 212 for an assessment for counselling through Care in Mind (this takes around 30 minutes and takes the place of a mental health care plan) or call the Macedon Ranges Health Intake Team on 5428 0300 to access our Community Health funded counselling.
Eligibility for Care in Mind
Care in Mind is a Targeted Psychological Services program for people experiencing mild to moderate psychological distress.
It is for clients experiencing financial hardship or receiving Centrelink Payments, or who can’t receive Medicare funded services.
Priority populations include: Aboriginal or Torres Strait islander, LGBTQI+, Refugees and Asylum Seekers, and under 18.
