Macedon Ranges Health Centre Turns One!
21 March 2016
The new Macedon Ranges Health Centre celebrated its first birthday this week! Celebrations included a bbq lunch which was well attended by community members, trial classes with our Physiotherapist, financial services information session by Bob Nixon, a delightful performance by Harpist Ruth Mary Love, massage sessions, speech pathology screenings, information session on dealing with anxiety and depression and also a celebration later in the afternoon for staff, partners and MRH Board Members.
Don Tidbury, CEO of Macedon Ranges Health said “Over the last year Macedon Ranges Health has grown its range of services to support the community. Since opening the centre 12 months ago we have worked with our partners to introduce new services to the community including the Neal Street Medical Clinic, Hardy’s Pharmacy, Kozy Korner Café, Healthscope Pathology, Butterfly Audiology and Capital Radiology. In addition, demand for our extensive range of allied health services has grown by 30%. This has enabled us to expand key health services including physiotherapy, psychology and occupational therapy to address urgent health care needs in the community.
In the last 3 months Macedon Ranges Health has also obtained funding to offer extended service hours till 8pm on Wednesday and Thursday nights to enhance access for people requiring allied health services. We have also directed resources to address the important issue of mental health in the region through sponsoring “PS My Family Matters” mental health carers group and the Macedon Ranges Shire Council’s “Live For Life” program which supports adolescent mental health and wellbeing.
Macedon Ranges Health is a local community owned, independent, ‘not for profit’ Health and Aged Care provider which is committed to improving the quality of rural health care services available to this growing region.
