Benetas and Macedon Ranges Health amalgamation receives overwhelming support
16 November 2017:
It is with great pleasure and excitement that Benetas and Macedon Ranges Health announce the amalgamation of our two organisations has been supported, following a vote on 14 November by Macedon Ranges Health Members.
Benetas and Macedon Ranges Health are united in our strong community values and our unwavering commitment to supporting our clients, residents, staff and volunteers.
We share a vision of delivering high quality not-for-profit services for all in the region including those most vulnerable in our community, while investing in services to meet growing needs and creating local employment opportunities. The amalgamation of Benetas and Macedon Ranges Health will allow us to deliver on our vision and make it a reality.
Sandra Hills OAM, CEO of Benetas, thanked the Macedon Ranges community for its overwhelming support of the amalgamation.
“Benetas is absolutely committed to maintaining the heritage and identity of Macedon Ranges Health which the community knows and loves,” Ms Hills said.
“Benetas is proud of its strong track record and commitment to investing in each unique community it serves.”
“Through the union of our two organisations, we look forward to meeting the increasing needs of the Macedon Ranges community now and well into the future through much needed investment in infrastructure and high quality services while retaining existing services.”
Don Tidbury, CEO of Macedon Ranges Health, welcomed the decision and the benefits to the local community.
“Macedon Ranges Health’s Members voted resoundingly in support of the proposed amalgamation. The support from our local community was phenomenal and is a great reflection on the enormous benefits the amalgamation will bring to the region,” said Mr Tidbury.
“Macedon Ranges Health has worked tirelessly through a complex two year process to source a highly respected, not-for-profit industry partner in Benetas, facilitate a meticulous due diligence process and most importantly, successfully secure the community’s support on this momentous opportunity.”
“With the number of people aged over 80 expected to double across the region in the next ten years this amalgamation will enable Macedon Ranges Health to grow and best accommodate the changing needs of the community,” Mr Tidbury said.
The amalgamation represents a significant investment by Benetas over the next eight years with $60 million set to be invested to upgrade, expand and redevelop the facilities and services that Macedon Ranges Health provides.
This will see an initial investment of $1.2 million in Macedon Ranges Health’s existing facilities and infrastructure for the benefit of the community and aged care residents.
“Benetas looks forward to proving the community’s trust is well placed as we work through the amalgamation process over the next six months with Macedon Ranges Health and deliver on the needs of the residents and clients,” said Ms Hills.
Benetas is a leading for-purpose organisation with a mission to provide older Victorians, their families and carers with a full range of quality community-based services and residential homes and apartments. To reflect its Anglican heritage and commitment to social justice, Benetas contributes a social dividend which sees any profit reinvested into growing and expanding services and initiatives, including our dedicated research and advocacy agenda, which provides broader benefits to people within our communities.
