Strength for Life Classes
The Strength for Life classes run three times a week in the gym at Macedon Ranges Health.
To join the program clients are required to have a doctor’s referral and an initial free assessment with our Physiotherapists.
Strength training also known as resistance exercises improves joint mobility, muscles strength and increases bone density. Progressive strength training is beneficial and assists with the management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis and osteoporosis.
This class uses weights such as dumbbells and ankle weights to create resistance, which helps to build muscle mass and bone density. It also includes activities that use one’s own body weight as the load.
Ideally strength training programs should be performed regularly, 2-3 times per week and is most beneficial when a small number of repetitions (e.g. 8-12) are used, and the weight is progressively increased.
This is a fun social class lead by a trained class leader, weights are assessed individually for each client and exercises are modified when necessary accordingly to client’s needs.
